In order to support Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) SMEs to participate and benefit from national and regional quality infrastructure services, UNIDO organized a trade capacity building training course in close cooperation with the Gulf Standards Organization (GSO) within the framework of the AfTIAS project. The three-day workshop, which took place in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, from 5th to 7th December 2016, was attended by twenty technical experts from NQI areas coming from GCC Member States..
The training course provided participants with the technical knowledge to understand the diverse issues pertaining to the essence of trade-related capacities in promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development. It also focused on developing skills related to results-based management, project design and monitoring. By the end of the training, participants had developed competencies that allowed them to articulate national needs in an effective manner and to tap available resources and funding at the international level.
