The Fifth Board of Directors Meeting of the Second Phase of the Aid for Trade Initiative for the Arab States “AfTIAS 2.0” Program

The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) held the fifth meeting of the Board of Directors for the second phase of the Aid for Trade Initiative for Arab States (AfTIAS 2.0), on 27 October 2025 at the ITFC headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

   

The meeting was chaired by Eng. Adeeb Yousuf Al-Aama, Chief Executive Officer of ITFC and Chairman of the AfTIAS 2.0 Board of Directors. It was attended by Amb Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States (LAS); Prof. Ibrahim Eldukheri, Director General of the Arab  Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD); Mr. Abdulmohsen Alkhayal, Executive Director of Local Content Division at the Saudi Fund for Development; Mr. Tamer Taha, Advisor to the Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt; Eng. Nasser Al Thekair, General Manager, Trade and Business Development at ITFC; Mr. Mohamed Lamin Tar, Advisor at the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania; Mr. Nazar Mohamed Eltahir Diab, Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB); Mr. Basel Al-Hussain, Representative of the Trade Development Fund (TDFD); and Mr. Tarek Aloune, Representative of the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

         
     

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Executive Director of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND), as an observer.

During the session, the Board reviewed the progress of ongoing projects under the AfTIAS 2.0 Program, approved the program’s budgets and business plan for 2026, and discussed future strategies to enhance Arab trade integration.

 

 

The meeting also witnessed the signing of a partnership agreement between ITFC and the League of Arab States to implement a new project titled “Enhancing the Competitiveness of Arab States to Improve Access to Global Markets”, under the AfTIAS 2.0 Program.

 

 

In his closing remarks, Eng. Adeeb Yousuf Al-Aama expressed his deep appreciation to all Board Members for their active participation and continued support of the program’s objectives. He also extended his gratitude to the Program Monitoring and Evaluation Unit for their excellent organization of the meeting and their diligent follow-up on project implementation to ensure the highest standards of execution.
